Whenever I begin to wonder if my life is unfolding as
it should, I have to stop and remind myself to consider the lily. Does
it worry about tomorrow? Does it worry about what it should be doing
at any given time? Of course not! It does, however, trust that
its every need will be taken care of. The lily is a very beautiful,
fragrant flower and all it has to do is allow its petals to unfold. In many of my dreams is a mansion. In it I keep discovering new rooms, new corridors, and new acquaintances. As I remember these dreams I am immersed in hope. Sometimes this knowledge provides me with so much encouragement I fully expect some immediate action to reveal itself in the area of my career. When this action fails to surface I become discouraged and start to ask myself what I am doing wrong. When I take hold of this attitude I find I am unable to be productive in my work and I even stop believing in progress in my field. Thank goodness for my daily walk for it has saved me from many pitfalls in my own thinking. Nature has a way of renewing our faith in survival. If every tree, plant and flower follows its own season, our own special work surely has a season of its own too. The mother of my best childhood friend always used to speak of the late bloomer. She referred to some women as late bloomers, meaning we are each operating in a different time frame. Some plants flower early, others take you by surprise, for just as you begin to think they will never bloom, a bud appears and you find they are simply late bloomers. "People are a lot like flowers," she explained. On life's journey, a woman reaches her destination when the time is ripe and according to the type of person she is meant to become. Some work takes longer to achieve but when we trust we are on the right path the results eventually reveal themselves. The important thing is to allow your petals to unfold in their own natural way.
