Healing

Healing is a simple word, but it is not a
simple process. It is more than herbs, pharmaceuticals, reiki or
surgeries. Healing is Mind/Body/Spirit all working in chorus to restore
well being. I write this page because I feel it is my responsibility
as one who offers healing, as well as teaches and guides other healers, to
state and reiterate a simple fact. It is quite easy to fall into the
belief that any of us can go see our MD or any of a number of naturopathic
healers and they will have 'The Answer.' In all actuality, it is as
much the patient's responsibility to let themselves heal as it is the healer's
responsibility to give the best attention and care they have at their
disposal.
In as much as a student will not learn what a teacher is attempting to show them if they are not open to the concept, a patient will not heal, regardless of the skills of the physician/healer caring for them if they do not also hold faith in that person and in themselves to recover. (See Websters': Hypochondria) All manners of illness are manifestations of the mind or spirit. Especially troubled mind and broken or dented spirit. Hence, ulcers, migraines, hypertension, eating disorders...when the body, mind and spirit are not in balance and are not all three nurtured by the person who wields them, dis-ease ensues. The role of the healer is to comfort, to administer aid and to guide and educate the ill person on ways to maintain Health. Yep, folks, Health is not a one time thing, it is maintained constantly through peace of mind, healthy diet and strong spirit. Too many believe that they are 'weak willed' or do not have a strong spirit. Surviving day to day requires a very strong spirit. The ability and the willpower is inside each of us; all you need do is show trust in yourself and love for yourself for that spirit to flourish. As we love and respect ourselves we find our love and acceptance of others flows more easily. They have their decisions to make, their lives to lead as we do ours. We must carry only our problems and see them as challenges we overcome daily. Through experience, I can honestly say that the majority of ailments I am asked to attend to are due to self-induced stress. Whether as a society or out of habit, we have become motivated by guilt and self-torture. It is easier, or so we think, to ponder mistakes, dwell on them and continually kick ourselves than to learn and let go. Say you're sorry for what was done if it is your mistake and let it go. If it is someone else's action toward you, it only holds the power you give it. Your reaction decides the gravity of the situation and the impact it has on you as an individual, inside and out. Defensiveness is met with aggression and further defensiveness. Indifference isn't met at all, it induces more indifference. Acceptance and release, combined with total honesty, both acknowledges a wrong done, but allows it to become a lesson and furthers growth. One cannot grow when they cling to past pains that manifest in the physical as well as the emotional.
All in all, as I bring this
page to a close, my message is this..we are responsible for our own Health
Maintenance. No Drug, No Healer, No Miracle Worker can heal the human
body without the help of
